Brissago, with 14 small towns, is a well-known village situated on the right shore of Ticinese gulf. Already in 1847 "Brissago" cigar-makers were manufacturing their typical products. Thanks to their individualityand their high quality they became famous. Every today, this Typical Swiss cigar is produced in its original place and form, using Virginia and Kentucky selected and perfumed tobacco. To visit: the lakeside walks, the church of Saints Pietro and Paolo (renovated in 1962), the 600 year old cypresses, the church of Madonna di Ponte (Bramantine style of the 16th century, the church of Madonna del Sacro Monte (17th century), the Palazzo Branca (architecture murals), the "Blauband" cigar factory, the modern Electrical Power Plant "Verbano" and the Art Galleries. A visit to the Islands of Brissago (Botanical Garden) should be included in your programme of your stay in Brissago and Ronco s/Ascona. Botanical open air park with numerous exotic plants of sub-tropical origin. In the botanical park, plants from various parts of the world have been grouped together (i.e.: Mediterranean "Macchia", Cypresses from Florida, Mexican Agaves, Veronicas from New Zeeland.
